Registration Age Groups

Please note:
- For U6 we recommend our Multisport Programme
- We appreciate children all develop differently – there is actually no strict rule about when
children should move up a level. We recommend that you should always start in the prescribed age
group for your child. Speak to the coach about your child’s progress and they will always give you the
best advice.

Youth Hockey Weather Cancellation Policy

Youth Training is cancelled when any of the following conditions occur:
T8 or above;
Red or Black rain warning which will be active after 9am or before 11am;
Amber rain warning which is going to be active at 10am; or
T3 which is going to be active at 10am (unless danger has clearly passed on HK island);
Thunderstorm warning with lightning that will continuously affect the area of Happy Valley for period of training.

In all cases, Valley will send a message if training is cancelled. In addition, all the above conditions can be checked by parents using HKO website/app.

Notes:

  • Thunderstorms in particular can be localized, and it is possible a T3 could be in effect when a typhoon has passed or the weather is calm in the training, vicinity hence conditions 4 & 5 above allow common sense to be applied.
  • Government pitches are open in Amber/T3/Thunderstorm although ”management may also exercise discretion to close the facilities when, in its opinion, that the facilities are unsuitable for use from safety or operation point of view”.

Youth Training is on in all other circumstances. Communication will only be sent confirming training is "on" if there is a T3/Thunderstorm that does not meet conditions 4/5

Where possible we will make the call as early as possible on Training Days to avoid unnecessary travel. Though in the case of typhoons, it may be possible to make the call the previous evening.
