Anger 6 - 1 Elite

After a long December break, Anger returned to action against Elite on a sunny afternoon in the Valley. Anger came into the match in 5th place knowing that a good result would be needed to keep pace with those ahead of them on the ladder, while Elite would be looking to avenge a close loss to Anger in the first round of the season.

Having been hit with a number of injuries this season, Anger knew that it would need to increase its depth in order to put in strong performances on the pitch. That was addressed with Anson and Francesco returning to the club, while Howard was moved up from Bedlam.

Anger started the match with high intensity (and high overheads) which resulted in a short corner less than 2 minutes into the match. A nice variation to Mat resulted in a goal and early 1-0 lead to Anger. Jason would double the lead shortly thereafter, showcasing both speed and skill to beat a defender before driving into the D to score past the goalkeeper. Chris would go on to add a 3rd goal with a reverse shot after the goalkeeper made a good save from a short corner. Anger would go into the quarter time break with a 3-0 lead.

Anger extended their lead in the second quarter with coach Satchi scoring with a drag flick from another Anger short corner. However that would be the only addition to the scoreline, with both teams creating chances, but neither able to convert. Anger would enter the long break up 4-0.

Elite came out in the second half focusing on a possession game and isolating their high forwards. Their persistence paid off when they converted a cross at the far post after a pass in from the left side. This brought the score back to 4-1. Elite's goal sparked Anger back into action with Jason receiving a pass in open space before running into the D and chipping the goalkeeper. David would also go on to add a further goal to consolidate a 6-1 lead. However not all was going to plan for Anger, with a goal line mix-up meaning that an easy tap-in would not be taken advantage of.

As Anger entered the 4th quarter, the month away from hockey began to show as some tired legs meant that attacking chances were few and far between. The match ended 6-1 in favor of Anger, with Tang winning Man of the Match for a standout game at outside half, demonstrating both strong defensive and equally impressive offensive performances (with his overlap running securing multiple short corners during the match).
