The Black Ladies have set themselves high standards over a sustained period and will be motivated by the desire to defend their 2019/20 Premiership and Grand Championship titles.

Coach Bella Milo has lost the services of 11 players over the off-season through retirement, injuries, the arrival of babies and departures from Hong Kong but is excited about bloody a new wave of players from their wider squad of around 50 players.

With last seasons skipper, “Captain Cait”, having just birthed bouncing baby Noah and National ERP players Jess Eden and Chloe Chan out injured, Milo has appointed co-captains Claudia Mcmeekin and Jasmine Cheung to lead the squad on the pitch while depending heavily on some of the campaigners such as Aggie Akanisi Au Yeung, Colleen Tjosvold, Tanya Dhar, Karen So and others.

The opening round will be played behind closed doors due to Covid-inspired restrictions but that won’t stop the players welling up with excitement and anticipation ahead of this opening fixture against DAC Kowloon RFC.

The inaugural Women’s premiership finally takes place at KGV international school in Kowloon this Saturday! Despite at first civil unrest and the current pandemic disruption, Valley has been resilient and working extremely hard to persevere during these hard times.

Cherly is optimistic about this week, she believes the new team dynamic could be both beneficial and push the team forward.

Coach Bella is confident that the team is in good position for this Saturday’s game after 14 weeks of training and last week’s pregame. She is determined to focus on building team players’ confidence and encourage them to keep pushing forward during these unprecedented times.
