At the meeting, the Valley RFC Board unanimously approved a comprehensive restructure of the committee’s composition, paving the way for a more focused and strategic leadership team ahead of the end of season Annual General Meeting.
The restructure follows an in-depth review initiated by a dedicated working group, appointed to examine the club’s Articles of Association. A key part of this review was a thorough revisit of the existing committee roles to ensure Valley RFC remains agile, inclusive, and well-equipped to serve its diverse sporting sections.
At the heart of Valley RFC lies a clear and enduring mission statement that continues to guide every decision:
At Valley Rugby Football Club, we strive for a winning culture that emphasizes a strong team work ethic and inclusive club spirit. We have an open-door policy where everyone is welcome from all corners of Hong Kong. We encourage people to enjoy the spirit of the club and learn the principles of rugby, hockey and netball in a respectful, fun and safe environment. We supply developmental pathways for athletes to flourish and more importantly for people to enjoy sport as players, team mates, competitors and spectators.
We strive to ensure that our culture is one that people can enjoy competitively and socially. One that new players can gain confidence and increase their contribution to the team(s). We encourage all players to excel and lead by example on and off the field in the fairest and truest spirit of the game and we abide by the code of conduct applied by the national bodies of the sports.
Moving from Operational Detail to Strategic Vision
The previous committee structure comprised 14 operational roles that spanned Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Treasurer, multiple sport-specific convenors (Men’s Performance and Community Rugby, Women’s Rugby, Hockey, Netball), a Social Convenor, and Directors for Kit, Youth, Charity & Sustainability, Diversity & Inclusion, and Business Development/Red and Black Club.
The objective of the review was clear: to move from a large, operational board to a more focused 11-person strategic body. This streamlined committee will set the overall direction of the club, while Section Sub-committees and executive management handle the day-to-day delivery, empowering volunteers and staff closer to the action.
The New Valley RFC Committee Structure
Effective from the upcoming AGM, the newly approved committee roles are:
This refined structure unifies leadership across all sections, consolidating oversight of each sport under a single director while introducing dedicated strategic focus on commercial growth, corporate social responsibility, and events that drive member and alumni engagement.
The club extends its thanks to the working group for their diligent review and to all committee members for their commitment to shaping an exciting future. Further details about the 2025/26 AGM and the transition to the new structure will be communicated to members shortly.
