Kia Ora Ben Rimene

Valley RFC12 Jan - 02:06

Joining the Men's Premiership team in 2009, Ben has bowed out from Premiership Rugby

Kāore te kūmara e kōrero mō tōna ake reka - The kūmara does not say how sweet it is

In Aotearoa New Zealand, the Māori people often use whakataukī (proverbs) that offer profound insights into people and events. The importance of humility and modesty, as expressed in the proverb above, perfectly encapsulates Ben Rimene's invaluable contribution to Valley RFC.

Ben joined the club from New Zealand, playing his first game in 2009. He has since gone on to play more than 200+ games and has won numerous Premiership League and Grand Championship Titles. He also went on to represent Hong Kong in both the Sevens and Fifteens form of the game and cemented himself as one of the top all time fly half’s to play the game in Hong Kong.

He has consistently been a figure of reliable composure and strategic wisdom on the field. Throughout his time at the club, he has proven time and time again that his exceptional skills—from his accurate goal-kicking to his precise tactical kicking—are beyond question.

He is a player who lets his actions, discipline, and established reputation speak for his quality, rather than engaging in any form of self-aggrandisement or boasting. This quiet confidence and consistency set a powerful example for the entire squad.

He is the epitome of the seasoned professional: a player whose excellence is defined by his consistency, his wisdom, and above all, his profound humility.

We thank you Ben for your time, service, energy and love you have shown Valley RFC!
