Damage began the season late on Tuesday night against a wily team from Recreio.

In the first quarter, we exhibited all the enthusiasm and intensity of Melania Trump entering the presidential bed chamber. Fortunately, in the final three quarters, the team showed up with Donald’s stubborn refusal to admit defeat.

Regrettably, in that first turgid quarter we were unprepared for the opposition’s long ball game and quickly conceded two goals from set pieces.

But then began glimpses of the Damage we all know and love; with Mudge smashing the ball into the bottom corner from a short to bring us back into contention.

Then, with less than ten minutes on the clock, there began a fast break from the back, with a volley of assured passing ending in a p-spot opportunity for G, which he calmly lifted over the keeper to bring us level. And there the score remained at two apiece.

All-in-all, it wasn’t pretty and there’s much room for improvement. But with solid debuts by George and Cedric, and a commanding managerial debut from Howard, we go into Sunday’s game with strength and confidence.
