International Experience & Pioneering Career
A versatile multi-sport athlete, I earned 17 caps for Tonga, highlighted by the 2003 Rugby World Cup where I faced the All Blacks, Wales, Italy, and Canada. Domestically, I represented East Coast and Counties Manukau in the NPC. In 1993, I made history as the first New Zealander to sign a MLB contract with the California Angels. I am also a dual-code international for the NZ Black Sox and a former captain of the Samoan National Softball Team.
Leadership, Education & The Leger Legacy
Beyond the field, education and community leadership are core family values. I’ve held key teaching roles as a Head of Year (12/13year old students) at St Peters College (Auckland) & Sacred Heart College. I have coached Wesley College to a National Top 4 Final. My wife, Dr. Whetuu Nathan, is the cornerstone of our family’s success; a specialist in Māori and Pacific achievement, she holds a PhD and has led major initiatives in the Ministry of Education.
Our children continue this tradition of excellence across the globe. Orbyn is a professional rugby player for NEC Green Rockets in Japan, while Arizona is a leader in sports governance and media, having served as a Digital Producer for the Black Ferns' world-title success and an official Content Creator for the NZ Olympic Team at Paris 2024. Ingram has also represented NZ Baseball and competed in the USA collegiate circuit. We are proud to call Aotearoa home while embracing this international chapter in Hong Kong.
