Several generations and two sets of fresh jerseys were on hand for the start of the league season at Happy Valley on a balmy afternoon in early October 2010.
The "Valley" team met their doppelganger "Valley Black" team at the opposite end of the pitch and only a little love was lost as rugby won on the day. Valley Black sported the new black home jersey for the year, replete with all sponsor logos, Tradition being the most dominant of course. Valley had the chance to break in the new set of white 'away' jerseys that will likely get a lot of use thanks to 3 teams sporting mostly black jerseys this year. The action was intense and the first half was close until the Valley squad pulled away from their brothers in the second half to finish on top 61 - 14.
What was remarkable about this game was the range of players that participated. From grizzled, greybeard Mustang legends to pimply, fresh-legged Ma Jai development boys, the span approached 30 years at certain points in the game. Particularly impressive was the fact that 8 former or current Ma Jai development players took part! Congratulations to all and best of luck for next week against Club!
