Riding on the wave of continued Valley success in all grades, the Knights have continued an unbeaten run of the past several weeks by totally demolishing Aberdeen. Playing consistently solid rugby both backs and forwards combined well for a deserved 53-0 score. The most impressive element in the score line was the zero beside the opposition's name. The reintroduction of Wes at 12 provided solidity in the midfield, and, combined with Kirk at 10, created space for Tom. Seward didn't disappoint, the centre ran fantastic lines and tore the Aberdeen turn-style defence apart.
The forwards took a while to find parity at set piece but they dominated in broken play. Ollie was once again a stand out with ball in hand and Renaud made some searing runs at the fringes of the ruck. Alex Yuen had another notable performance making some key tackles in the tight. One of the highlights of a "highlight reel" performance was the defence in the first half when Aberdeen were hammering the line. A key tackle spearheaded by Leo sparked an end to end try that crushed the Aberdeen spirit.
The floodgates opened in the second half. It was one way traffic and the partisan valley crowd got their moneys work. There is still work to do- particularly at scrum time, but the boys go into the mini break full of confidence and should be ready to make a serious title run when they play Club Dragons- a potential league deciding match- next. There are very good selection dilemmas, so training and availability communication is a must.
