KNIGHTS GALLOP PAST PLA, LEAGUE TITLE IN SIGHT

Knights 34 - 13 PLA

A clinical second half defensive performance saw the Knights canter past PLA. In what is becoming more the rule than the exception, the Knights once again proved too strong over 80 minutes than their opposition. Down 13-10 at half time it looked like the game was anyone's. PLA had speed to burn on the outside and executed well to score two deserved tries. Valley dominated in the tight and were rewarded for their efforts when Ollie Robinson powered over for two first half tries. In the pack, Jack Bennet, Ollie and Andrew Lawson all played well. Slippery chimed in with his usual no nonsense, "Johnny-on-the-spot" bullocking runs and the introduction of Matt White only adds to the depth the Club is developing. Alex Yuen also came off the bench to provide a spark in the pack.

In the second half, the Knights dominance started to show on a wearying PLA pack, and they were able to pile on 24 unanswered points. For the backs, Kirk Munro had a typically sound game, making accurate decisions at number 10. The new combination of Kevin Mauffery and Tom Seward in the midfield was a success, and should put pressure on the existing combination of Wes and Seb to regain their spots- a good and rare place for the Knights to be in. Seward's scything runs at centre were of particular note. Tries came thick and fast as Charles Cheung stripped the PLA 9 to score near the posts, Matt White showed the backs a thing or two about drawing and hitting the open man to put Kevin Mauffery through a gaping hole, and Ollie Robinson pounced on a charge down to score his third touchdown under the posts.

It was a sound performance all around and the boys should be very proud of themselves. A solid hit out at training this week should have the team well prepared for Valley Day next Saturday. There will be fierce competition for positions across the field so ensure you make yourself eligible by training this week. there is still fine-tuning to be done, like kick-off receipts, but the base is set for a long and well deserved golden Knights run.
