BLACK LADIES 10S KICKOFF THEIR CAREERS WITH WIN AGAINST FORMER PARTNERS CITY

Black Ladies 15 - 5 City Girls

The Valley Black Ladies 10s, comprised mostly of players new to HK rugby, kicked off the 2010-2011 league at THT against the City Girls. The City Girls pressed hard for the first quarter of the game as Valley were finding their new combinations difficult to manage in the face of active opposition and City was rewarded after nine minutes with an unconverted try.

After the water-break, Valley engaged their passes and moves and KK crashed through some strong City defense to even 5-5.

Just before half-time, Tara burst through some flimsy defense in the Valley half and scored as the half-time whistle sounded, try unconverted.

As the second half started, City kept moving forward, only to be repelled time and again by strong tackling around the ruck by Captain Erin, with tough work by Jenny, Morgane and Lucia. Out in the backs, Tanya had come on to add some match experience to the younger players and her continually effective tackling was finally rewarded just on the 10 minute mark when she managed to score a try of her own.

Rebi playing very strongly at half back brought down larger opponents time and time again and out on the wings Heidi and Hannah added speed and strength when needed.

Valley Black Ladies 10s conquer with a final score of 15x5 after a hard fought game with no subs but great determination, well done!
