Good afternoon

With the sun and blue sky finally making an appearance, and temperatures rising thoughts must surely be turning to the forthcoming hockey season and the enjoyment of pulling on those red or white shirts again. This is a note to bring a few things to your attention to the season ahead. The Valley Hockey Section Committee is composed as follows:

Hopefully you should know who we are, if not you'll undoubtedly get to know us over the course of the season! In case you weren't already aware, we're pleased to report that Tina and Mark will be picking up the coaching duties where they left off. With everyone's co-operation we hope to build upon the good work from last season. It should be obvious that three positions on the committee are yet to be filled, without help from willing volunteers the club simply can't function. If you think you can fill a role then please do get in touch.

The season ahead will provide the opportunity to tour with Valley - we're anticipating 3 or 4 overseas tours, as well as plenty of social events with a pre-season event, the famous Valley Street Party, and regular Race nights at Happy Valley Races. In amongst all that, we hope to play some hockey, and if we can persuade the HKHA to release some pitches possibly even some training on astroturfs ...

We shall be kicking things off with some fitness sessions throughout August as well as general hockey training sessions. These should culminate with hockey trials and we hope to also arrange some friendly matches prior to the start of the season. The season is rumoured to be starting in mid-September, although the HKHA seem to be treating this information as a closely guarded state secret right now. As soon as we know more we'll be sure to pass it on.
