Panthers 33 - 29 HK Football Club

This was the match we had been preparing for all season. We were all nervous, but at the same time quietly confident that all of our training was about to pay off.

The first quarter was nail bitingly close as we fought goal for goal. Every shot and pass counted, however in the last few minutes Club defence managed to turn over an interception and convert their next centre pass which meant that we ended the first quarter down 6-8.

Going into the second quarter we knew we had to go out hard and no allow Club to gain momentum and pull away further. Our defence was exceptionally tight and our shooting very accurate. We managed to claw back 4 goals and move ahead 14-12 by the end of the quarter.

Our third quarter has historically always been our toughest, but we knew we couldn't let this be the case tonight. So we really focused and went out hard from the first whistle and pulled away to an impressive 8 goal lead, with more exceptional attacking play and fantastic defending! However towards the end of the quarter we tired and let our concentration slip (something you just can't afford to do against Club) and immediately they took advantage of the situation and quickly pulled back 6 goals so that we ended the third quarter up 23-21.

This was it, we knew we now had to give everything we had left in us if we wanted to walk home with the championship. The last quarter was fantastic as both teams battled for every single pass and every single shot! But finally our efforts paid off and we managed to break one of their centre passes with a fantastic interception in mid court and we pulled another goal ahead. We then played the best 5 minutes of netball we have played all season, fighting with every bit of energy we had left in us whilst playing intelligently to maintain per-cession. Then at last the final whistle blew and the score was 33-29! We did it, we won the championship!

Girls i was so gutted not to be able to play tonight, but watching you all play the way you did was just awesome! I'm so proud of how well we pulled together as a team.

Bring on 2011 and the next Grand Final!!!
