COUGARS START CONFIDENTLY WITH WIN OVER A.P GREAT WHITE SHARKS

Cougars 32 - 13 A.P Great White Sharks

Valley Cougars made a great start to the season with a confident win against A.P. Great White Sharks. The game was far from easy though and began at a fast pace. Brooke M (WA) had a dramatic exit from the game within the first 5 minutes after a bad fall resulting in a sprained ankle. The rest of the team were shaken but carried on courageously with no subs to step in. Alex (C) found the spaces and easily got the ball out across the court leaving Captain Lisa (GS) and Helen (GA) in prime positions to shoot, and shoot they did at every opportunity! Nicola (WD) got her eye on the net on a few occasions as GA, but played the rest of the game making a concerted effort not to break the 3ft marking rule. At the opposite end of the court, Holly (GD) and Penny (GK) did a great job under pressure and somehow interecepted the ball at just the right moments.

By the second half, the Cougars were feeling the strain as the energy levels started to drop. But with the help of Amanda, Danielle and Brooke M on the sidelines, the Cougars pushed on and controlled the pace with careful passing and some impressive shooting. Brooke S (WA) kept calm and never faultered, even though she was playing with jet lag, yes really! The final score was 32 to 13 leaving the Cougars in a positive frame of mind for the games ahead.
