COUGARS MAKE A VALIENT EFFORT...

Cougars 11 - 26 Aussie Emus

The Cougars were in high spirits this week when they played against the Aussie Emus at Aberdeen Outdoor Sports Ground. Both teams were on good form and seemed a pretty even match on first impressions. However, once the game started, the pace was undeniably fast leaving the Cougars with a lot of work to try and control it. The first quarter passed very quickly with the Emus taking a slight lead. They held onto and increased this lead throughout the match, maintaining fast and direct passing and completing the passes with some precision shooting.

The Cougars did not give in though and kept the pressure on during the second and third quarters. Welcoming back Brooke M from an ankle injury, and our other Brooke (as a brunette!), the central team did well to keep the team together with Alex (C) doing more than her share of the leg work! But it was still not enough to match the pace of the Emus. Holly (GD) and Penny (GK) kept the Emus close to prevent them from getting anymore access to the goal. Helen (GS) and Nicola (GA) swapped positions for the last quarter to try and inject some badly neeed energy into the game, but the Cougars knew the win was slipping through their fingers.

The final quarter gave Emus a clear lead and a win of 26 to 11 Better luck next time Cougars!
