On Monday the Cheetah's took on the Surprises, a very nippy local team. What we may have lacked in speed, we definitely made up for in height (well some players!!) The match started well, with some good attacking and defensive play in both circles. We had definitely learnt from our previous match and training and were beginning to see some lovely set plays bringing the ball down the court, allowing us to take full advantage. At the end of the quarter the score was pretty even at 8-7 (to the Cheetah's). At the beginning of the second quarter we lost a little momentum, playing at the Surprises speed, rather than our own. We struggled to feed the ball down from centre court into our attacking circle, allowing the Surprises to take advantage and gain an 8 goal lead. that we could definitely do this (after all, we have been undefeated so far this season!!) The girls began to work as a team again, slowing the passage of play down, allowing us to play our own game and in doing so, regained some of the goal deficit, finishing the quarter only 3 goals down. The final quarter saw the Surprises tire a little, with mistakes appearing in their game, which should have allowed us to capitalise more than we did. Final score 16-20 (to Suprises), a good effort by all, well done!
