About Valley
Valley has 7 women’s teams which consist of:
Angels team – 1st Division
Babes team – 2nd Division
Chick team – 3rd Division
Devils team – 4th Division
Evils team – 4th Division
Fiends team – 5th Division
Vixens team – 3rd Division (mid week team)
Saturday League
Most games are played on Saturday afternoons and can start at 1.30pm The last game is usually a 6.30 start. You may also have some midweek games if you have a midweek team in your league.
Vixens
Vixens is a gorgeous mid week team comprised mainly of girls who can't make Saturday matches and lower division team players who fancy a go in a higher division. The few higher division players allowed to play will pass on all they know and are always helpful. The team aims at being lots of fun and an opportunity to players to improve without pressure.
If you are interested in being a Vixen only or want to play Vixens matches as an additional team please let myself and Katie McTeer know at worldwideshopper@yahoo.co.uk
Matches/Timing
Please ensure you turn up for matches at least half an hour before your game is due to start, this will allow time for changing, talking and warm ups so games can start on time. If games start late it is up to the umpires to cut the game down to prevent the next game from starting late.
Training ( to date)
Monday 17th September – 7-10pm
Monday 24th September - 7-10pm
Timings:
Training will be between 7pm-10pm and timing will rotate for each team to make it fair throughout the season. Each team will get a one-hour slot. A/B will train together as will C/D and E/F.
Application Fees (Subs)
This years fees for this year are. $600 club fee and HK$1,600 hockey section fee (or $875 student fee). The cost covers kit, team entry, coaches, training pitches, balls, goalie kits and first aid boxes.
Kit
You will be supplied at the beginning of the season; one home shirt, one away shirt, black skort (skirt with shorts attached) one red pair of socks and one black pair of socks.
• Your home strip is: black/red shirt, black socks and black skorts
• Your away strip is: white/red shirt, red socks and black skorts
• Please ensure that you wear this season’s kit for sponsorship reasons, but also because we do not want to see a mixture of different colour strips or different style socks, this can make the team look very untidy.
• Please always bring both shirts/socks in case of any last minute changes
If a player doesn’t wear their designated numbered shirt the team is liable for a fine.
Registration
Every player has to be registered with the Hong Kong Hockey Association (HKHA) before they play any league game matches. The registration form has to be sent with two passport photos to the convenor. You can post your forms to:
Claire Eadon
25B Tower 5
Hoi Ning Court
South Horizons
Ap Lei Chau
Please also enclose your UK shirt and skirt size.
Player Cards
Once players are registered the HKHA supply us with player cards. However, as we cannot be certain players will bring their player card to every game, captains will be given them to hold onto for the season - so please do not ask for them. They are required when requested by umpires and for all tournaments. If they are lost there is a $50 replacement charge.
Hockey Equipment
If you are interested in new hockey sticks, shin guards or astro boots then you can contact our coaches.. Let them know how much you would roughly like to spend and they can get it for you. Please be aware shin guards are compulsory and mouth guards highly recommended.
Captain’s
Being captain is no easy task therefore, I would like to ask you to respond to your captain’s emails to make her life easier (please do not hit reply all unless necessary). If you say you are going to play for the team, please give your captain at least 2 hours notice if you are no longer able to make the game, this will allow her to find replacements as it is unfair on the team to play with less than 11 players especially in the heat – NEVER assume that there will be enough players!
The captain’s main role is to ensure that:
• They pass on any messages from the hockey convenor
• Collating a team for each game and to ensure you have at least 8 players for each game otherwise it is a walk-over
• Posting the match card to the HKHA
• Point of contact for umpires (no players should interfere)
• Make decision with coach as to team positioning, training, player movement etc.
• Point of contact for any complaints or queries
• To attend as many training sessions as possible and ensuring the team turns up to train as a team
