Valley Anger Toy with Titleholders

Valley Anger were always in control against title holders Shaheen A and ran out 5-2 victors in their first game in the Valley for season 2009-10. For many it was a sweet victory after years of defeats at the hands of Shaheen although, Mark and Ally didn't seem to know what the fuss was about conquering them in their first outing.

Valley Anger started the match in complete control as Shaheen decided to camp in their own half and wait for a possible break away goal. Valley Anger cut them to ribbons in the first 20 minutes with glamour pairing Ally Brown and Max "the Power" Parry given heaps of room out wide. T-Bro Brown, Neil Leonard, Smithers and Tim King were getting plenty of ball in the midfield to cut up the seemingly overawed Shaheen. This allowed forwards Matty Oliver, Paul Chima, Johnny Bal, young gun Wolfie and Jason "Mad Dog" Calvert to regularly penetrate the circle and earn shots on goal or shortcorners.

Frustratingly it wasn't until about 25 minutes in that Valley Anger were able to break the deadlock. Two quick short corner goals, a sweet strike from T-Bro Brown and a brilliant deflection from Benny Chiu sent Valley Anger on their way. Two nil to Valley Anger at half time.

In a seemingly common theme, Mark asked that the fellas "show some balls" in the second half and bury Shaheen. Without German lothario Bernie in the side, it was left to Mark show them off himself as he looped a nice scoop into the net shortly after half time. We are told Tina has spent much time teaching him the skill. Matty Oliver, also keen to show them off in a venue other than Wanchai, chipped in with another and it was four nil to Valley Anger.

The lads seemed to relax a little and allowed Shaheen to pull two goals back. It could have been more but for some acrobatic saves from Picko and some hard and tough tackling from Duffy at the back. Eventually balance returned to the universe long enough for Matty Oliver to slot another and Valley Anger ran out five to two victors, making the beer and cake taste sweet at the finish!

Thanks for all those who came down in the rain to support.
