The morning after the night before felt no better, as we were sadly unable to rally to Josse's demands for a win over the Dutch. We were much the better team throughout, dominating both possession and territory and had we taken chances at key moments at the beginning and/or the end we would not have lost as our defence was back to its usual resolute self and we conceded only a handful of chances, two of which they took well.
And given that it was a very hot day (I know I never moved but I was in a world of pain throughout the match!) the effort was there, but such is sport and unlike the week before when we were not the better side and did not play well but won, this week was almost a polar opposite. Plaudits to the young vdB's and to Rajat on debut all of whom played well. Max Girault scored the Bedlam goal with a clean strike from a penalty corner in the first half.
Such was the heat and humidity the teams and umpires took the sensible decision to split the match into four quarters of seventeen minutes each. The final two quarters remained goalless which was a reflection on the sapping conditions as the game slowed down.
